Freedom of speech is not absolute. Limits on free speech have longstanding precedents, even if the public at large may not understand them. I don't count on the broad public to understand Twitter's difficult work of balancing freedom of expression with public safety, but we do depend on our government getting this right. What are the odds of that?

Thank you Will for the great reporting, and for documenting what could end up being an important moment in the history of our democracy.
