There is something wonderful happening in Karen Ruoff’s first novel, Academia, published (in german) by Ariadne / Verlag. Laced with oblique references to fixtures and features from her academic context at Stanford, Academia provides an uncommon and sharply ironic view into the gears and guts of the modern top-tier academic institution.
